The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of hotel employees' work value on job satisfaction and turnover intention according to demographic factors. The data of 204 hotel employees working in seven 5-star hotels in Seoul were gathered and analysed.
The results of this research are presented as follows: First of all, as the result of factor analysis, four factors were identified. 'Self-development' was defined as intrinsic variables whereas 'the way of life', 'recognition', and 'economic stability' were defined as extrinsic variables. According to demographic factors, there were differences among work value, job satisfaction, and turnover intention. Demographic factors were categorized as 'sex, age, marital status and education level' and 'department, employment status, position, and pay'.
Therefore, hotel companies should carefully keep on eye on hotel employees' work value and try to find out what employees really wanted from their work to satisfy them.
