This study aims to investigate the effects of go-stepping exercise on the physical fitness, inflammatory factors, and fall efficacy of obese elderly women, and to propose the suitability of go-stepping exercise for this population. To achieve this, two groups were randomly assigned, and the experimental group participated in go-stepping exercise for 12 weeks. Based on the pre- and post-measurement results, the following conclusions were drawn:
First, go-stepping exercise positively affects the lower body strength, muscular endurance, upper and lower body flexibility, agility, and dynamic balance of obese elderly women. This indicates that go-stepping exercise can be an effective exercise for improving the physical fitness and reducing obesity in this population. Second, go-stepping exercise reduces the inflammatory factors CRP and IL-6 in obese elderly women, demonstrating its effectiveness in decreasing inflammation. Third, go-stepping exercise increases fall efficacy in obese elderly women, making it suitable for enhancing their confidence in preventing falls.
In conclusion, go-stepping exercise for obese elderly women goes beyond merely improving physical fitness; it also enhances overall health and is an effective program for disease prevention. Therefore, go-stepping exercise can be actively recommended as a comprehensive health prevention program for obese elderly women. Furthermore, it will play a crucial role in helping them age healthily and improve their quality of life.
